What do I expect to learn?

The information for each session is tailored to individual or group health education needs. You will learn what is discussed and planned based on your own personal and family history and your goals.

How do I know which session is best for me?

During the introductory session, based on each client's health needs, the client will select the sessions, or the coach can suggest them, considering the client's needs and preferences.

Can I get medical nutrition therapy?

No, providing medical nutrition, especially for the treatment of health conditions such as diabetes, chronic kidney disease, or heart failure, is not within the scope of practice of a wellness coach. The coach can only provide general dietary guidance that may support medical nutrition therapy recommendations, but in no way replaces medical nutrition therapy, which a registered dietitian or a health care provider usually prescribes

What is the difference between a nutrition coach and a dietitian?

A dietitian is a licensed medical professional qualified to diagnose and treat medical conditions using medical nutrition therapy. A health coach, however, is a behavior-change specialist. They do not treat disease, but rather help clients build sustainable daily habits like meal planning and stress management.

What do you mean by "using a collaborative approach"?

A collaborative approach is when the coach works hand in hand and side by side with the client, each expert in their own role. Therefore, the client and health coach exchange knowledge to connect the dots, build a team, and achieve the set goals.

What about if I have a question after the health coaching session ends?

Each session will include time for questions and answers. If any questions arise later, an email can be sent to wellnessparati@gmail.com, and it is expected to be addressed within the next 2 business days. If it is a medical emergency, the patient needs to consult their PCP or go to the ER.

Because my health and nutrition coach is a licensed healthcare provider, can she give me medical advice and answer medical questions during the health/nutrition coach sessions?

No. Even if your health or nutrition coach is a licensed healthcare provider, she cannot diagnose, treat, or give medical advice through Wellness Para Ti. However, her clinical background and experience with motivational interviewing support her ability to provide general education, explain how health conditions and nutrition are connected, and guide you using evidence-based, reputable resources. For medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, you should see your primary care provider.
